The Merc Chest is a common piece of torso armour meant for early game use. It can be found through scavenging or bought at most armour vendors. It is also commonly found with Travelling/Pop-up Merchants.
Like all Old World/Offlander items, it cannot be crafted and must be bought/found.
It is popular amongst raider groups and Punished shinobis, being used for it’s affordability, and as a symbol of the meek, respectively. It is unique for being one of the few pieces of torso armour actually worn by Punished Shinobis.

The Merc Chest was the first item to be added to Chitin::A.D, and was one of the items present in Chitin:SE’s early demo.
It was originally going to be re-named as the “Riot Chest”, but has since kept its name, and the current “Riot Chest” is actually part of the larger “Merc Armour” gear set. This may one day be corrected but has not changed since PA02.
